Duke of Burgundy, Kithurst Hill Meadow, West Sussex. May 2018.
The Dukes were late this year because of the awful weather in April, so when they emerged they were even more
welcome than usual. There are never many of them at Kithurst Hill, but where they occur at the bottom of the meadow,
it is relatively flat and free of brambles and nettles, so it is easy to get down low and photograph them against an
  out-of-focus background.
