UK MOTHS
A checklist of all the macro-moths illustrated on this site is given here
Canon EOS 50D until August 2nd, 2010; after that I used a Canon 7D.
Lenses - up to and including 2010 I used a Sigma DC 17-70mm macro lens, except for day-flying moths, which were taken with a Canon 100-400mm IS USM lens; from 2011 I used a Sigma 150mm f2.8 APO MACRO DG HSM lens for all moth pictures.

If no specific location is given beneath the picture, then the moth was captured in an MV trap in my garden in Disley, Cheshire. Other locations are given beneath specific pictures. Almost all images are of moths on the UK list, though some of the immigrant species were captured and photographed outside the UK. After photographing, all moths were released into dense herbeage
